BYE BYE DORA! CHECK OUT THE “HOTTEST” CHRISTMAS GIFT OF 2012

Preschoolers are going crazy over the adorable chocolate “Doc McStuffins,” which has kicked “Dora the Explorer” to the curb to become the #1 top-rated cable TV show for tots.
Doc, a 6-year-old girl who tends to sick toys on the Disney series introduced in March, has also unseated Elmo as this year’s must-have (and hard-to-find) holiday toy.
Be warned, you can’t find it anywhere! Social media sites like Facebook and Twitter are filled with folks BEGGING for the toy!
“It is almost impossible to find Doc McStuffins,” said Gerrick Johnson, an analyst at BMO Capital Markets, who has scoured Toys “R” Us, Target and other stores. “Just Play is the company that makes it, and that is a new startup,” he said. “My guess is that they didn’t have a lot of production lined up for the first-year run. Expect better availability next year.”
In the meantime, persistent parents should keep searching online.
The suggested retail price for the “Time for Your Checkup” is $34.99, but some eBay and Craigslist sellers are selling the hot-ticket toy for up to $130. The pint-size physician comes with her plush four-legged friend, Lambie, and plastic checkup tools like a thermometer.
“I’m not sure I realized how much she would inspire kids,” said show creator Chris Nee, who came up with the character to demystify doctors for her own son. Hooray for Chris Nee for creating an African-American Disney Junior character and for Disney for putting the show on television for the kiddies to see.
