TOYS “R” US HIRING 40K HOLIDAY WORKERS
(blackmediaSCOOP) Toys R Us plans to hire seasonal workers for the holidays. The company said it will hire more than 40,000 seasonal employees at its U.S. stores and distribution centers.
It hired 45,000 last year. In 2010 the company opened 600 pop-up stores or stores that are open temporarily, but it plans to open far fewer this year. It has not disclosed a number, other than to say it will be more than 90.
The toy seller said about 10% of its 2010 holiday hires stayed on as permanent employees. Hiring begins this week and will continue through November at both company stores and Toys R Us’ 10 distribution centers, including its new e-commerce distribution center in McCarran, Nev.
Toys R Us employs about 45,000 in the United States throughout the rest of the year.
