BANK SLAPS FANTASIA WITH $25K LAWSUIT
(blackmediaSCOOP) It’s been quite a year for 2004 American Idol winner Fantasia Barrino. We toldja last week she announced she’s pregnant, now she’s been hit with a lawsuit claiming she owes U.S. Bank more than $25,000 for unspecified reasons.
The suit was filed last month by a collection agency claiming 27 year old Fantasia owes U.S. Bank $25,057.02 plus interest dating all the way back to 2009.
This isn’t the first time the Grammy Award winner has run into financial trouble. In 2009, she nearly lost her home to foreclosure, but made some last-minute payments to avoid losing the house.
She was also involved in a nasty court battle last year between her boyfriend Antwuan Cook and his estranged wife Paula. In November 2010, Fantasia was said to have confessed during a child custody case between Cook and Paula that she got pregnant with a baby with Cook but had an abortion.
In February, Fantasia was forced to deny rumors she was pregnant after she gained weight for a movie role. She told reporters she was gaining weight to play Mahalia Jackson, an African-American gospel singer, in an upcoming movie.
