1ST LADY, DEBBIE ALLEN & PHYLICIA RASHAD ROCK SPELMAN’S GRADUATION
(blackmediaSCOOP) It was standing room only as 1st lady Michelle Obama spoke to 550 Spelman College graduates on Sunday afternoon. As she walked in you know the crowd went crazy.
Mrs. Obama talked about helping others, community service and beating the odds.
“It is vitally important that you all rise to the highest ranks of every industry and every profession,” Obama said. “As you climb those career ladders, just remember to reach down and pull others up behind you.”
Over 9,000 people packed the ballroom of the Georgia International Convention Center, to watch Mrs. Obama deliver her keynote speech to 9,000 people in the audience.
Obama also talked about how Spelman was founded in 1881 by two white women from the north, with about 11 women in class. The first lady wasn’t the only celeb in the house and honored. Our homegirl director and choreographer Debbie Allen, and her sister actress Phylicia Rashad were also given honorary doctorates.
